Where Have All The Storks Gone? A His and Hers Guide to Infertility
By: Michelle & Chris Miller
If you’re struggling with infertility like me, you’ve probably read your fair share of infertility books. I know I’d read so many that I’d developed the attitude that if I’d read one, I’d read them all. But Where Have All The Storks Gone? broke the mold. Its unique and refreshing he-said/she-said format, coupled with its personal and down-to-earth writing style, instantly captured my attention and I couldn’t put it down.
In their memoir, Michelle & Chris Miller openly share their journey through the treacherous world of infertility in a way that is not only personable and engaging, but also informative. From minor bumps in the road (like meddling cats!), to major surgery, failed treatments, and miscarriage, the Miller’s have experienced it all. Despite enduring countless setbacks, they manage to remain positive and hopeful and eventually they are blessed with their rainbow baby, Sydney Addison Miller.
The Miller’s infertility journey is truly inspiring and very relatable. I enjoyed getting to know Michelle and Chris as individuals and not just as another couple struggling with infertility. The way they welcome you into their life and candidly share their story instantly makes you feel like they are lifelong friends. As they take turns recalling the milestones along their infertility journey, you’ll find yourself crying with them during their heartaches and celebrating with them during their triumphs. Their optimistic personalities are simply contagious. Michelle and Chris’ story proves that no matter what, you should never lose hope and that sometimes the best things really are worth waiting for.
Whether you are just starting out or are a seasoned infertility veteran, you will be able to appreciate Michelle and Chris’ humorous and insightful journey. Those new to infertility will especially appreciate the tidbits of knowledge seamlessly sprinkled into their stories, along with the appendix in the back of the book that lists definitions of those crazy infertility terms like Hysterosalpingogram. If you have been plagued with infertility for a while, you may not be as interested in the details, because let’s face it, you’ve probably “been there, done that” … but that is exactly why I think you will enjoy this book too! You will be able to relate to the Miller’s experiences on a very personal level. And even if you aren’t struggling with infertility, this book will help to give you insight on how challenging trying to conceive can be for many couples. I truly feel like Where Have All The Storks Gone? is a book that everyone can relate to in one way or another.
